The short answer – NOTHING! Our appraisers are the same appraisers you would hire in a normal setting, many times they are better! Our machinery and equipment appraisers are Certified by a National Certification Company, have undergone intense training, yearly continuing education, and have thousands of hours of appraisal experience in almost every Industry.

The main thing to consider here is what is the end use going to be, who will be using the report, and what value are they looking for. See our Free eBook for a in-depth discussion on establishing what value you need.

The appraisal will be signed by a Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser. The report will be written in USPAP compliant format (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice), and is readily accepted by Lenders, Banks, Courts, the SBA, and the IRS. The report will contain a line item breakdown of the appraised items, color photos, and will be based on Current Market Data Research. Our report is extremely in depth and will average 45 – 65 pages; much of this is needed for compliance. The Machinery Appraisal report will come Bound and includes a PDF electronic copy as well.

This is a personal decision in many respects. Many Agencies and Lenders say everything $2500.00 and above needs to be a separate line item on the appraisal, the SBA (Small Business Administration) recently dictated $5000.00 as the minimum bottom threshold. When in doubt about the appraisal threshold, please default to $2500.00 or a lower amount. As for small items, our form has a location for you to enter all of these separately or as a batch dollar amount and we will apply industry depreciation metrics to them as part of the appraisal at no extra cost.

Create your own “Perfect Asset List” with the following components to make sure you receive the highest values possible for your equipment.  Don’t leave this to an “Appraiser” that may be an Accountant or Auctioneer in disguise that has never seen your type of equipment before.  Make sure you give an asset list that specifically describes every piece of equipment with the following: Make, Model, S/N, Age, Condition, New Cost, Specifications, Options, & Hours / Miles.  We find that this one thing will make sure that an “Appraiser” will not miss that $10,000 option your specific machine has.

Please see the description in our eBook. The “Perfect Asset List” Form includes everything you will need to complete the Information gathering for your appraisal. It includes Data Collection, Picture Collection, and an extensive Overview of how to collect the data correctly. By using our Format you can save up to 20% on your appraisal because of the work you have completed ahead of our site visit.

Simple – this keeps your appraisal valid and both of us legal. According to USPAP (as promulgated by Congress) an appraiser cannot be under any duress for the final value of the appraisal. Basically this means you need to pay up front so we are not swayed in the final value by the risk of not getting paid. This is also a legal protection for you because this means we truly are an unbiased third party.
